Thiruvananthapuram: The
mystery over interpolation of the word ‘chief minister’ in a complaint
filed by M. Sreedharan Nair of Konni in connection with the solar scam
had a new twist on Tuesday after Sreedharan Nair’s lawyer Sony said that
the word ‘chief minister’ was there in the petition while it was filed
at the court. The advocate’s clerk Radhakrishnan, however, stated that
he made the interpolation as directed by the advocate.
The Pathanamthitta judicial first class magistrate court, which is scheduled to deliver the judgment on the bail plea of Oommen Chandy’s former personal assistant Joppan on Wednesday may make some remarks on the interpolation, said sources.
The lawyer said that the petition was prepared on the basis of the materials provided by Sreedharan Nair, which included an appointment schedule with the chief minister that was given by Saritha S. Nair to Sreedharan Nair over e-mail. However, it still remains mysterious whether the interpolation was there while Sreedharan Nair signed the petition, said sources.
No solid evidence against Shalu, as of now
Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the mounting pressure to arrest actor Shalu Menon in the solar scam, the Special Investigation Team seems to be in no mood to act citing that there was no concrete evidence directly linking her with the scam, as of now.
Police, however, do not rule out the possibility of Shalu being arrested and arraigned in future if any fresh evidence surfaced.
According to police sources, the involvement of Shalu had only figured in a complaint filed by one Razik Ali of Manacaud here. Biju Radhakrishnan collected Rs 5 lakh from Razik while the former was accompanying the actor after a dance programme at Sucheendram near Kanyakumari. There was no evidence of Shalu trying to woo Razik or any other persons to invest in the solar panel trade.
“In the case of chief minister’s former personal assistant Tenny Joppan, he had wooed Konni native Sreedharan Nair to enter into the deal with Saritha even after he knew Saritha’s dubious past. This amounted to colluding with the crime, whereas in the case of Shalu, so far we have not received any such evidence,” said police sources.
They also said that Shalu could not be held liable for helping Biju evade arrest as she had not done it deliberately.
